Woodwalton service 415

Registration with FACT is not neccessary; it operates like a normal bus service.

Revised timetables for X4, 23 and 24

bullet Stagecoach X4, 23 and 24 have revised timetables from September 1st (X4 changed August 30th), with some journeys running a few minutes earlier or later than before.

07/09/15

Centrebus School Journeys

bullet Two school journeys operated by Centrebus will be changing from the beginning of the Autumn term (officially from August 30th). Route 71 to and from Arthur Mellows Village College in Glinton will no longer run; this ran from Queensgate via Gunthorpe and Werrington. Secondly the 1600 service 9 journey from King's School to Stamford and Oakham (departing Queensgate at 1610) will only run as far as Stamford and will be numbered 9A.

New Facebook page

bullet This month marks 15 years since Peterborough Bus Times was launched. To celebrate I have finally created a Facebook page which will run alongside the website and highlight important changes. I do hope some of you will "like" the page!

Summer weekend Skegness service

bullet Stagecoach is once again running the popular service X12 to Skegness this summer, on Saturdays and Sundays from August 1st to August 30th, also on Bank Holiday Monday August 31st. Departure from Peterborough (Bay 20) is at 0945, arriving Boston at 1105 and Skegness at 1135. The bus will also pick up at Market Deeping Market Place (1005) and Spalding Bus Station (1035). The return journey will leave Skegness at 1730 and Boston at 1800, arriving back in Peterborough at 1910.

bullet Adult fare is £12 return, children (aged 5-15) and senior concessionary passholders £7.80 return, family fare (up to 4 people, no more than 2 adults) £26. Pay the driver on the bus. Concession passes and other tickets such as Dayrider or Megarider cannot be used.

Additional Route Links

bullet I am grateful to Simon Brooke for pointing out that service 46A operated by Huntingshire Association for Community Transport (HACT) has been extended to Hampton Serpentine Green, serving the villages between there and Huntingdon. I have added a link to it on the Routes page. I have also added a link on that page to the HACT website, showing the various dial-a-ride possibilities into Peterborough from the Hungingdonshire area, for members of HACT.

bullet Even though it doesn't serve Peterborough, for the sake of completeness I have also added a link to the timetable for Shaw's service 100 which runs from Market Deeping to Spalding via Deeping St James.

16/07/15

Peterborough Bus Rally

bullet Don't forget the Peterborough Bus Rally will take place on Sunday at Sacrewell Farm. There will be free bus services including an hourly service from Queensgate and a service every 15 minutes from the rally site to the Nene Valley Railway at Wansford.

10/07/15

National Express Coaches

bullet A recheck of the page detailing express coaches from Peterborough has revealed a number of changes and retimings. I'm not sure when these changes took place. One item of interest is that the first coach from Peterborough to London now leaves a little earlier at 0715 and calls additionally at Stevenage, as does the 1900 from London to Peterborough. The 1330 from London has been retimed to 1400.

07/06/15

Withdrawal of Diamond service 246

bullet Diamond's once-monthly service 246 to Peterborough from the Bedford area and St Neots (along with villages on the A1 corridor) will run for the last time on June 27th. It was introduced relatively recently in November 2013, at first twice monthly but latterly had been running on the 4th Saturday of each month. Diamond's other service into Peterborough, the once-monthly 203 from Irchester and Rushden, will continue unchanged on the 1st Saturday of each month.

07/06/15

Disruption to services June 7th and June 9th

bullet Due to cycle races certain services will be disrupted on Sunday 7th June (affecting Farcet and Yaxley) and Tuesday 9th June (affecting the city centre).

07/06/15

Whittlesey area changes from June 7th

bullet Judd's service 701 to Whittlesey, Eastrea and Coates will sadly come to an end, with the last day of operation being Saturday June 6th.

bullet Coincidentally, Stagecoach will start using the new 'bus station' in Whittlesey from the following day, Sunday June 7th. This is located in Grosvenor Road, just off Eastgate, just to the east of the Market Place, which is being redeveloped. Stagecoach has reissued its timetables for routes 31 and 33 (links can be found on the Routes page) but timings at Whittlesey bus station are the same as for Broad Street in the previous timetable. However there has been a two minute adjustment to timings at Stanground (The Fenman) to compensate for the extra time required to serve the new stops. Departure and arrival times at Peterborough are unchanged.

28/05/15

May Bank Holidays

bullet All operators will be running a Sunday service on the two bank holidays in May, Monday May 4th and Monday May 25th.

25/04/15

Delaine Heritage Day, Sunday 26th April

bullet A timetable and vehicle roster for the Heritage Running day can be found on the Delaine website.

Poetry on the Buses

bullet From the PECT website: "The Peterborough Green Festival, which this year runs from Saturday 23 to Sunday 31 May, has announced its very first Poet in Residence! The 2015 Green Festival, organised by independent charity Peterborough Environment City Trust, will include a fantastic arts element in order to showcase sustainability issues in innovative and engaging ways. Local poet Keely Mills has been commissioned to travel all the buses in Peterborough, writing poetry inspired by the journeys she takes and the people she meets and highlighting the routes that keep the heart of the city pumping."

bullet "This work will then be recorded into a sound installation with the help of Beat This. Many of the voices used to record the work will not be performers but will include ex-bus drivers and passengers. This sound installation will be played in several places during the festival week and online. So keep your eyes open for a poet on a bus and your ears ready for the recorded results where you least expect it."

bullet There are also details on the PECT website on how to get involved if you are interested in helping to record the poetry in the recording studio.

Bus Stops at City Hospital

bullet On Mondays to Fridays from May 4th 2015, buses will not serve the stop near the main hospital building between 0725 and 0905 or between 1625 and 1800. Buses scheduled at these times will only serve the stop near Bretton Gate (by the roundabout just inside the hospital area, near car park A). This is due to congestion at the hospital causing delays to the buses and affecting passengers elsewhere.

bullet I don't often comment on such things but it seems incredible to me that a modern recently-built hospital like this should not have been provided with a proper bus station close to the main buildings, with buses given priority. Also incredible is that the hospital's own website has incorrect public transport information, referring to routes that were withdrawn two years ago - I've emailed them!

19/04/15

New Bus Terminus in Whittlesey

bullet Buses no longer use the Market Place in Whittlesey, and a new terminus has been built a little to the east in Grosvenor Road, just off Eastgate, at the expense of some car parking. Stagecoach has reissued its timetables from April 12th showing Broad Street as the Whittlesey stop. This is to the west of the Market Place so I'm not sure if this means the new terminus is not yet ready.

17/04/15

Stagecoach Midlands Fare Increase

bullet Following on from the recent Stagecoach fares increase in the Peterborough and Cambridgeshire area, Stagecoach Midlands has also increased its fares from April 12th. As far as Peterborough is concerned this only affects Peterborough - Oundle - Northampton - Milton Keynes route X4 along with route 24 Peterborough to Oundle and certain journeys on route 23.

bullet The Stagecoach Midlands Adult Dayrider Gold and Child/Senior Dayrider Gold have both increased by 20p to £11.50 and £7.90 respectively. The Group ticket has increased by 50p to £19.50. Further information about day tickets will be found on the Fares page.

15/04/15

Minor changes to X4 and service B

bullet From March 30th there are minor variations to Stagecoach's X4 timetable. The only change affecting Peterborough concerns the 0738 journey from Northampton to Peterborough on Mondays to Fridays which now leaves 5 minutes earlier at 0733.

bullet From April 6th there are minor variations to Peterborough - Huntingdon - Cambridge service B, operated by Stagecoach. However, journeys to or from Peterborough are not affected by the changes.

29/03/15

Easter Alterations

bullet Good Friday April 3 - Stagecoach will run a SUNDAY service. However, Stagecoach Midlands services X4, 23, 24 will run a SATURDAY service (except 0950 and 1250 to Lynch Wood and 1000 and 1300 Lynch Wood to Peterborough will NOT run). Centrebus will run a normal FRIDAY service. First Excel will run a SUNDAY service. Delaine will run a SPECIAL service (see below).

bullet Delaine Good Friday service - from Bourne 0740, 0900, 0930 then at 00 and 30 minutes past each hour until 1700. From Peterborough 1000, 1030 then at 00 and 30 minutes past each hour until 1800. All buses are route 101.

bullet Saturday April 4 - Normal Saturday service.

bullet Sunday April 5 - Normal Sunday service.

bullet Easter Monday April 6 - All operators will run a SUNDAY service.

Stagecoach Fares Revision from March 29th

bullet Stagecoach will be increasing its fares from March 29th, one year after its last general fares revision. For details of the validity of the various tickets see the Fares page (now updated with the new fares).

bullet The Dayrider goes up 10p to £4.10, whilst the Dayrider Plus (covering Peterborough plus Cambridgeshire) increases 20p to £6.40. Weekly tickets bought from the driver increase by 50p, bringing the Peterborough Megarider to £14.00 and the Megarider Plus (Peterborough plus Cambridgeshire) to £24.50. Both tickets are 50p cheaper when purchased online through the Stagecoach website with a Smart card.

bullet As regards family tickets, the Family Dayrider Plus increases by 20p to £7.20 and the Family Dayrider Gold by 50p to £12.50.

bullet For those with a Smart card, the Peterborough 5 SmartDays ticket will increase by 50p to £15.50, and the Cambridgeshire 5 SmartDays Plus will increase by 50p to £27.50. These tickets, introduced last year, allow you to load 5 Dayrider or Dayrider Plus tickets onto your Smart card, allowing travel for any 5 days within three months. The 5 days do not have to be consecutive. These products can be purchased from the driver using your Smart card, and you can load a maximum of 50 days travel onto your card. They cannot currently be purchased online.

bullet All versions of the East Dayrider Gold increase by 30p, making it £13.50 adult, £10 child/senior (60+), and £24.50 family. The East Megarider Gold 1 week ticket will be £34.00 (£33.50 online with Smart), an increase of 50p.

15/03/15

Minor changes to Excel X1 timetable

bullet There were some minor changes to the X1 timetable from January 25th. Departure times from Peterborough are unchanged. On Mondays to Fridays some early morning journeys from Norwich (up to the 0945 departure) are adjusted by up to 5 minutes, affecting times from Norwich, Dereham and Swaffham. On Saturdays the journey which formerly left Wisbech at 1658 now departs at 1654, running 4 minutes earlier to Peterborough (and thus fitting in with the regular half-hourly pattern of the Saturday afternoon journeys).

03/02/15

Revised rail fares from January 2nd, 2015

bullet The annual rail fares increase will take place from January 2nd, with an average increase nationally of 2.2%. The list of rail fares between Peterborough and London has been revised for 2015 and will be found here. The format has been changed to hopefully make it easier to understand. Great Northern's new Overnighter ticket, introduced a few months ago after Great Northern took over from First Capital Connect, is now included in the list.

13/12/14

Stagecoach route B (Cambridge) from January 4th, 2015

bullet From January 4th there will be minor timing changes to Busway route B linking Peterborough with Sawtry, Huntingdon, St Ives and Cambridge. According to the new timetable there will no longer be a requirement to change buses at Huntingdon on certain journeys.

13/12/14

Delaine 101/102 changes from January 4th, 2015

bullet There will be a revised Peterborough - Deepings - Bourne timetable from Sunday January 4th. Due to traffic congestion two minutes will be added to journey times throughout the day, extended to four minutes for peak journeys into Peterborough. Departure times from Bourne will not be affected but arrival times into Peterborough are adjusted.

bullet Journeys on service 102 which currently leave at 20 minutes past the hour will now leave at 15 minutes past the hour. Departures from Deeping St James to Peterborough will be two minutes earlier than before, but departure on the hour from Market Deeping Market Place is maintained.

bullet The 0920 service 102 from Peterborough to the Deepings will be withdrawn. On Saturdays the 1647 journey from the Deepings to Peterborough will also be withdrawn.
